Stephanie is our Practice Clinical Pharmacist. Clinical Pharmacists are highly qualified health professionals who train for man years to become specialists in medicines and how they work.
She can work directly with you, as part of the general practice team, to make sure your medicines help you get better and stay well.
Having a Clinical Pharmacist in the Practice team means you can be treated by the best professional for your needs.
Examples of how Stephanie can help you:
Long-term conditions: For conditions such as asthma, arthritis, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes, Stephanie can discuss the medicines you're currently taking to make sure that they are working for you.
Experiencing side effects: Stephanie can help by discussing what changes could be made e.g. change of dosage or changing the medicine. If you are taking a number of medicines then Stephanie can help make sure that they are all working well together.
Reviewing your medication: If you are taking medicines over the long-term, you should be seen for a review at least once a year. Medication reviews can be booked in with Melissa and she will discuss what you are currently taking, how they are working for you and carry out health checks such as taking your blood pressure.
After a stay in hospital: If you had medication changed in hospital Melissa will help explain these changes to you whilst ensuring you get the maximum benefit from these medications.
Common illnesses: If you are suffering from a common illness such as a cold, hay fever, diarrhoea or an eye infection you could see Melissa instead of a GP. Melissa may be able to prescribe medication to help your condition. You will always be referred to a GP if there is a need.
Stephanie works on a Thursday and has both telephone and face-to-face appointments available.
If you have a query or any concerns regarding your medication then you can make an appointment through reception to speak with Stephanie.
